Let's Talk About The Weather!

Hey guys!
So, I guess this is my first proper Lifestyle post! How exciting! And what better topic to start off with than this horrendous weather that has been hitting the UK lately?

I live in Swansea. A place the majority of UK citizens will most likely have heard of before, and to those of you that haven't heard of it, its a city on the South coast of Wales. Yes, I'm a Welshie! We always joke about the weather and how dreadful it is here. Sun? What is that? But lately, it seems to be especially... bad! From what I can gather, we've got off pretty lightly with the storm so I dread to think about other parts in the UK! But, what about where I come from?

Well! For the first time ever, well, since I've been born that is (all of 19 years and 11 months to be exact ;)), schools have been closing because of the wind... yes, the wind!! Ok, that may be a slight understatement. Yes, it was wind, but this wind was like nothing I have ever seen before. A lot of the UK was issued with both amber AND red weather warnings for it and to be honest, I can see why! It caused havoc. Road closures popped up everywhere due to fallen down trees and more worryingly,  whole roofs were flying off buildings! Our fence came down and thousands of people were left without electric! I was in work, and where as we didnt have a full black out, the lights flickered away!

Unfortunately, I didnt manage to get any pictures myself, but if you fancy a look at what the weather is like down here, here is some links to our local news paper where you will find pictures, tweets and articles from our locals!

How has it been where you are? Drop us a comment and let me know!

Review-Bomb Cosmetics!

As any other girl, I love baths and I love bath products. There is in my opinion, nothing better that soaking in a hot bath. So many times, my nose has dragged me into "Lush." My purse however drags me straight back out! Yes the stuff is, well, lush, but I begrudge paying such expensive prices for something that will last no longer than a couple of minutes, but now I have found Bomb Cosmetics!

Bomb Cosmetics isn't a very heard about company, which is in my opinion, such a shame as the products are really out of this world! Bomb cosmetics seem to be springing up in quite a few shops these days though, so keep your eyes peeled and you may just find a stockist near you soon! Until then however, you can purchase from their website.

Usually, my trip to my local stockist, Bellaroma, is to purchase Little Hotties. The most amazing thing I have ever set my eyes on! However, I will save this review for another blog.  The point is though, I usually purchase these, for both myself and as gifts for other people, all of whom have loved them. My local store gives you a Loyalty card and for every £5 spent you receive a stamp. A full card means £5 to spend. Well after buying a few lots of little hotties, I finally filled my card and went in today to make my purchase!

After a hard week, I was desperate to have a nice hot bath so thought I'd give Bomb Cosmetics soap and bath bombs a go. They provide such a wide variety of soaps, bath bombs, bath creamers and so much more, I took at least half an hour to make my choice. In the end I went with the "crazy after dark blaster" and the "summer cherry soap".

The summer cherry soap has the most beautiful smell with notes of not only cherry but also mandarin and litsea cubea. The smell is beautiful and it lathers up really well!!! My favourite thing about this product though is that the gorgeous smell clings to you. For a good few hours after my bath, I kept getting wafts of the gorgeous smell hiring me! You can bag yourselves this soap for just 2.49 on their website! Bargain! And it lasts for ages too!!!

Now onto my bath blaster! I love bath bombs! Who doesn't? And I seriously wasn't disappointed by this one! When I dropped it into my bath, I was surprised at just how much fizz is in it!!!! It's definitely called a blaster for a reason! Within seconds, my bath water had turned to a beautiful blue colour and the room had been filled with it's beautiful scents! Once I had actually got into the bath, it was honestly like stepping into luxury! What really impressed me however was how soft and silky it made my skin. I left my bath feeling super relaxed! You can get yourself one of these for just 2.29! You really cannot complain with prices like these!!

If you fancy trying out some of bomb cosmetics products then head on over to their website, http://bombcosmetics.co.uk where you will find heaps of choices at bargain prices or a stockist near you! My boyfriend has actually just ordered me the Lucky Dip gift set where you get £50s worth of their products for just £30! I'm super excited to receive it and will post a review up when I have it!

So have you tried Bomb Cosmetics? What do you think?

Cath Kidtson Nails Using Barry M

Hey Readers!
So, this tutorial is an old one from my old account, but it's my all time favourite and proved quite popular so I'm reposting here for all new followers!
You Will Need-
A base and top coat. I'm using Barry M's All in one.
A white nail varnish.
A blue nail varnish.
A pink nail varnish.
A peach nail varnish.
A green nail art pen. (Or just a green nail varnish and a brush or cuticle stick.)
Barry M's white nail art pen.
A striping brush.
A slightly smaller but thicker brush. (As you can see in the picture.)

Step 1- After applying your base coat and allowed to dry, you need to apply your blue coat. One or two, depending on the quality of the nail varnish and your own preference.

Step 2- First we will do the stripes and flowers. I did these on my little finger, thumb and middle finger. Dip your striping brush into your white nail varnish and starting at the cuticle side, place the tip of the brush onto your nail and drag it up to the tip to create a line. Repeat this several times as required depending on the width of your nail.
Step 3- To create your flowers, we start by putting a few dots of peach nail varnish onto your nail. These can vary in size and number.

Step 4- Now we need to create the effect of petals and we do this by taking our other brush, dipping it into the pink and simply making marks over the peach as you think petals would look. You can see how  have done this in the pictures.

Step 5- The final step of this part of the design is to take your green nail art pen and create leaves. I did this by making small 'v' like shapes on the edge of the flowers.

Step 6- Now for the easy bit! Using your nail art pen, create a line of dots up the centre of your nail. Then using this line as your template, compete the rest of the dots. Each line of dots should be roughly in the centre of the line of dots before them so if you were to connect the dots, you would have a diamond shape. Once this is done, you can cover your nails in your top coat and voila! There you have it!

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy this tutorial and  if anyone does attempt it, I'd love to see your results!

Review- Nails Inc Pret a Porter Collection

Well, it's December 30th already, a whole 5 days have come and gone and I am still in full on Christmas spirit, currently snuggled up in bed blogging while watching Home Alone on the ipad (which I just downloaded for free thanks to iTunes 12 gifts of christmas app! EEEEP!) I've been up since 7 this morning and have spent the majority of it painting my own nails, and my pretty new colour wheels and have decided that no is a perfect time for another review!!!

I am a huge nails inc fan, but  I really think that they have excelled themselves with this one!
I love glitters and the two that come in this set are possibly the best glitter varnishes I have ever tried. Unlike others, these give you a complete coating of glitter, not just a speckle and look beautiful! In general, all of these colours are of an amazing, long lasting quality and don't need that many coats. they also dont take all that long to dry. I really couldn't find a single criticism of any of these and would seriously recommend them to anyone!

Have you tried any of these colours? What do you think?

Review- A.S.P Soak Off UV Gels

Hey guys! So, as promised, here is my review on ASP Soak off UV Gels. I used to spend an absolute bomb on going to the salon to have Shellac nails, and would then go home and get bored of the colour in no time so ended up taking them off in a week or so before they even had a chance to chip. After a while of this constant circle of events, I decided I wasn't going to do it anymore and that I would invest in my own UV lamp and gels. Shellac and Gelish are probably the most better known brands, as these are what the majority of salons used but they are so expensive! My solution? ASP!

These pots of gel cost around £6/7 if my memory serves me right, may be wrong on this one though! But either way, they work out A LOT cheaper than the other brands, which the price is fair enough when you're able to charge £25/30 to do other peoples nails, but if you're someone like me who solely does your own nails, its just too much! I received the above colours for christmas and I'm yet to try them all, but I have so far managed to try out the Cherry Pie and Disco Ball!

Application of these is easy. Time consuming if you're doing your own nails, but thats just one of the downfalls of doing your own nails as you have to do one hand before starting the other. As you can see in the picture, the colour on the pot isn't quite like the colour it is when applied, I dont mind it and actually think I prefer the actual colour than that shown, but others may not be so happy about this. The disco ball glitter is gorgeous too, but definitely no where near as glittery as shown and gives more of a shimmer. I also found that you need to have a good few coats of the Cherry Pie as on first application it is kinda transparent. Over all though, I love these products and the colours!

The Little Blog of Christmas Beauty Gifts

Hey Guys!
So this is my first proper blog post for "The Little Blog of Pink Stuff" and what better way to start it than a Christmas post? This year, I received lots of beauty gifts so over the next few weeks I will be making my way through them and reviewing the products all in a separate, detailed blog for each product. As it's only boxing day, I decided I'd start it off with a blog which will include all the products so you know what to look out for in the coming weeks!

Corioliss C1 Hair Straightener- This straightener is AMAZING. Initially, I asked for a GHD. Me and my mum have used them for years and have had no problems. At one stage they were the best straightener on the market, however, after being recommended by a lady in Sally's who insisted that this was the product I needed, the C1 has definitely won me over!  I've only used it once, but so far it definitely comes up tops! I'm really looking forward to writing a full review on this one!

Diva Professional Styling Big Waves- I have no idea how I will find this product! I have never ever used this sort of styler so it could end in disaster! If anyone else has used this then let me know! I'd love some tips!

Nail Varnish and UV Gels- Ok, So as you can see, I had quite a few nail products. At the moment I have the slight issue of too many colours not enough hands! Each product will have a review at some point though and I will be starting with the gels!

Marc Jacobs Fragrances, Honey & Dot- This is the last beauty product I have to review. I love these fragrances, I really, really do. I already had Daisy so this christmas asked for a few more of his fragrances as I want to start collecting them. My wonderful boyfriend bought me Honey, while my mum and dad bought me Dot.

So that is it! That's what we have to look forward to in the next couple of weeks! Do you have any of these products? What do you think of them? What beauty products have you had this christmas?

Until Next Time! :)

The Little Blog of Pink Stuff

Hey guys!
Welcome to my blog!
So, for my first post, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself and tell you all a bit about me. My name is Laura and I come from Swansea, Wales. I'm 19 and I work as a receptionist in an accountants. Aside from work, i go to college, one evening a week and enjoy nail art and reading. I set up a blog a while ago called Pretty Polish & Happy Hearts which was basically for me to show you guys nail tutorials and give reviews. After a while, I started stuggling to update as much as I would have liked too so I stopped, but now I'm back with my new blog, The Little Blog of Pink Stuff!
So why the change of blog I hear you ask? Well change is good and with this blog, what I can post about is more varied. So from now on I will be posting a lot of the usual nail posts but will also be able to throw in some new stuff too with reviews of other products I like, books and maybe even some films. Maybe I'll even throw in the odd lifestyle post! Who Knows, but with christmas looming and Santa's arrival imminent what better time to start back up again!
I'll leave this post as it is and look forward to writing my next! I really hope you all enjoy and as well as having my old readers, I may even gain some new ones too!
Until Next Time!
